Just now, Ukrainian drones struck the Sizran refinery, which has a processing capacity of seven million tons—marking the 11th Russian refinery targeted this month. The previous ten were:
Launching drones from high altitude and utilizing gliding to extend range mirrors the principle behind glide bombs, which Russian Su-34 strike aircraft employ to maximize range from high-speed, high-altitude launches. Ukrainian aircraft, constrained by Russian ground-based air defenses and advanced fighters like the Su-35 equipped with R-37M missiles, cannot fully exploit JDAM-ER glide bomb range from low altitudes. The balloon tactic not only represents a tactical innovation but significantly increases the effective range of drones like the FP-1, putting more Russian military targets within reach and further diminishing Russian combat power. In addition to this new tactic, media reports indicate that Ukraine will field-test a new stealth cruise missile, the RUTA Block3. The Block1 variant has entered mass production, Block2 is undergoing flight tests, and Block3 is scheduled for testing next year, potentially marking its operational debut. The RUTA series is jointly developed by Ukraine, the Netherlands, and Germany. The Block3 variant carries a 250-kg warhead, has a 2,000 km range, stealth capabilities, and autonomous navigation, allowing precise terminal strikes without GPS. Once mass-produced, Block3 will not only serve as Ukraine’s main long-range strike weapon but could become a European long-range deterrent against Russia, reducing reliance on U.S. Tomahawk missiles. Regarding Russian airstrikes on Ukraine, a noteworthy issue arose in April in Chernihiv Oblast. Ukrainian monitoring detected radiation levels up to 12 μSv/h, far exceeding normal background radiation, and identified isotopes U-235 and U-238. The source was traced to old R-60M air-to-air missiles mounted on Russian drones. Compared to earlier models, the R-60M missiles replaced tungsten with depleted uranium in their continuous-rod warheads to increase lethality. However, with a warhead weight of only 3.5 kg, the missiles had limited effectiveness against aircraft, often causing damage but failing to destroy targets. This underscores Ukraine’s relative restraint: when the UK supplied Challenger 2 tanks with depleted uranium rounds, Russian propaganda exaggerated the provision as supplying nuclear weapons. While Russia displayed DU rounds on the battlefield, reports indicate they were not used in tank engagements. Ironically, Russian drones have deployed air-to-air missiles with DU warheads, raising civilian safety concerns. Field reports also captured Russian soldiers discussing a mass alcohol poisoning incident near Zaporizhzhia, where 8–10 troops per observation post were affected over five to six days, corpses left uncovered or hastily wrapped. Numerous reports detail Russian troops consuming food from local Ukrainians and suffering poisoning, with official drinking bans proving largely ineffective amid poor supply, heavy casualties, and brutal conditions. The impact on the Russian stock market following these developments is evident. Meanwhile, in Kyiv, the statue of the Motherland stands resilient amid thunderstorms. Erected in 1981 to commemorate the 36th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, it has since become a focal point of Ukraine’s de-Russification. In August 2023, over 85% of Ukrainians supported replacing the 500-kg Soviet emblem on its shield with Ukraine’s trident, renaming it Mother Ukraine. The statue’s transformation symbolizes the rebirth of Ukrainian national spirit. She no longer commemorates the past; she embodies resilience, courage, and independence, standing defiantly against Moscow’s aggression. Behind her lies Kyiv, the homeland, and millions of indomitable Ukrainians. She protects not just Ukraine but the freedom of Europe and the civilized world. Inspired by her, countless Cossack endants and defenders of justice have risen to fight, pouring their hearts and lives into the struggle—for Ukraine, for freedom. This enduring resistance ensures that Ukraine will prevail, achieving victory not only for itself but for civilization, justice, and all who cherish freedom. Glory belongs to all unyielding souls.
